The Forres Chinese New Year festival had it’s debut run in January 2012.

The week long program of free events was opened by Vice-Consul General Zhou Youbin, of the Edinburgh Chinese Consulate, and local MSP Richard Lochhead and included:
* An exhibition of Chinese Antiques and Art at the Falconer Museum
*Lion Dance at the Town Hall during the Opening Ceremony 
* Chinese Songs, Music, Dance & Martial Arts at the Closing Ceremony
*A Talk on Chinese Tradition and Economic Success
*Educational activities in local schools 
Film Night  
*Tai Chi workshops
* Chinese Wisdom & Culture 
* Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremonies
* Talks on Health & Wellbeing 
* Interactive Traditional Culture Workshops
